Item Description
Of all the gem material found in Myanmar, perhaps nothing is as sought after and valuable as Jade (Jadeite). The finest green Jade in the world comes from Myanmar, and it sells for multi-millions of dollars every year, most to buyers from China and Hong Kong. The best pieces rarely are seen by the public, but if you've ever laid your eyes on a top quality piece of green Burmese Jade, you know how impressive the material can be. This piece is a polished slice of this classic material, with small areas of saturated green against a black background. With some backlighting, you can get a bit of the green color to come through the edges. It's incredibly difficult to get your hands on any good pieces of Jade from Myanmar these days, and the previous embargo prevented the import of ALL Jade into the US, and you never know when or if it could be banned from import permanently. From the collection of Bill Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill is synonymous with minerals of San Diego County, and owned and operated famous mines such as the Stewart Lithia, the Tourmaline Queen, the Pala Chief and the Himalaya, producing some of the most iconic mineral specimens to come out of the area during the 1970s-1980s. Bill is also known as "Burma Bill" and traveled the world for decades in search of fine gems and minerals, and was directly involved in the in-person acquisition and importation of superb specimens and stones from Myanmar (Burma).
