Jade (Pre-embargo !)

Jade has been one of the most valuable and celebrated stones throughout history. If you've seen top quality Jade gemstones, you know how beautiful this material can be. The material is often only translucent, but the alluring classic green color is what attracts collectors. This "Oval Cabochon" cut stone has a fantastic emerald green color (slightly more intense than the photos show), and is translucent for all intents and purposes. Now the stone has been treated - most likely it has been resin filled - to enhance the color, but this is a perfectly accepted practice in the Jade world as long as the buyer knows that the stone has been treated. It is a very attractive stone and truly glows when backlit. PLEASE NOTE: This stone was imported into the United States prior to the embargo implemented after September 30, 2008. The embargo is over now, but mining in Myanmar is essentially shut down nationwide, so nothing new is coming out of the ground, and our friends tell us that they don't know when things will get back to "normal" in terms of mining, so if you've always wanted a nice stone of this classic material, be sure to pick this one up.
