Item Description
According to mindat.org Jade is most composed of the mineral Jadeite and is found, "most commonly as the monomineralic metamorphic rock jadeitite which is often used as an ornamental gem and carving material as which it is known as jadeite jade." With that said Jade is one of the most popular "non gem quality" stones around. The material is often only translucent, but the beautiful traditional green color is what attracts collectors. This "Oval Cabochon" cut stone has a fantastic strong green color, and is translucent for all intents and purposes. Now I don't know for certain if it has been treated, but based upon the color, it's likely that it has been treated. It is a very attractive stone and truly glows when backlit. This stone is a pre-embargo import from many years ago, and would make a great addition to any gem collection as they are not as easy to purchase as they were years ago.
