Item Description
When it comes to high-end gemstones, some of the most expensive examples in most people's mind would be Diamonds, Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, etc., but the Jade industry is one of the highest grossing markets in the world. A large percentage of the top grade Jade mined every year comes from the town of Hpakant, Myanmar and is estimated to bring in over $30 billion annually! For comparison, the Emerald gem industry only brings in about $3 billion per year, and all of the Sapphires sold globally ever year are around $7.5 billion. With that said, nearly all of the high end Jade is purchased by Chinese buyers, and very little of it is sold anywhere else. Here we have a beautiful natural/untreated "Round Cabochon" of Jade with a pleasing soft hue. A very attractive piece of this valuable and seldom seen material. Jade is one of the most popular and sometimes valuable "non gem quality" stones in the world. It's virtually impossible to find completely transparent Nephrite / Jade, as the material is almost always translucent. The beautiful traditional green color and durability of the material is what attracts collectors, along with its rich history.
