Item Description

Jacobsite is a manganese iron oxide species, very rarely seen from the famed N'Chwaning Mines in South Africa. This piece is one of the best examples we've had to offer from this locality featuring dozens of tiny, sparkling, brilliant, razor-sharp, metallic, black octahedral crystals of Jacobsite, associated with Calcite on matrix. The Jacobsite crystals are best seen with a loupe or under the microscope, and we've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate their quality. If you collect rarities or minerals from the Kalahari Manganese Field, don't miss out on this excellent, and good sized specimen. The piece was mined in 2012, and to the best of my knowledge, no more have been found.
