Item Description

Gorgeous, psychedelic, iridescent, banded turgite coats the upper portions of this large sculptural hematite stalactite cluster. Turgite is a mixture of goethite and hematite. Both tips are broken, but this remains a very fine and highly colorful example from this locale. Mineral specimens from this old Virginia iron mining district are seldom available. Ex F. Crayton and an East Coast Collection.
