Item Description

Fabulous, iridescent sprays of cockscomb marcasite crystals in striking intersecting sprays form a very aesthetic and classic specimen from the famous mines at Panasqueira. This is an extremely rare style specimen for the species, quite a bit more scarce than just about any style of apatite in fact! I had never seen one, so good, for sale. Not the most glamorous of a Panasqueira suite but still fairly desirable given the aesthetics and rarity of such a piece, which would complement the more common minerals in a collection of Panasqueira pieces. The dramatic cockscomb at the crest is noteworthy. A quartz crystal fragment and tiny lenticular calcites are a nice accent. This choice piece is essentialy pristine and has 360-degree viewability. Ex Dr. Gary Hansen Collection and dates from the 1960s to early 1980s. Valued at $450 many years ago. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
