Iridescent Dolomite on Amethyst (ex Phillips and Rose Collections)

Here we have a beautiful miniature specimen featuring a very attractive pagoda-esque-shaped, stacked / "built-up" group of compressed rhombic crystals of Dolomite of a soft yellow hue sitting on soft lilac colored Amethyst matrix. The Dolomite group is doubly-terminated and nearly damage-free, save one small contact on the back. When you rotate the piece in the light, you will see a slightly iridescent directional luster on the surface of the Dolomite group, which is certainly unusual for the material. A lovely specimen from this classic mineral producing area in Mexico. The label accompanying the piece states it was once part of the collections of Dr. Barratt L. Phillips and Erik Rose.
