Item Description

Beautiful iridescent peacock-blue and golden laminar covellite crystals are tightly intergrown in foliated clusters on this colorful, sculptural and impressive rich 3-dimensional old-time specimen from this noted Colorado locale. Large, intact covellite specimens from Colorado's historic mining days are rare, especially in this quality. This piece dates to the early mining days in the district, which focused on base metal sulfide-baryte veins with significant gold values. Covellite specimens of this quality are rarer than those from Butte, Montana and match or surpass Butte covellites in quality. Ex Gary Weaver Collection and valued by the former dealer at $750.
