Item Description
Colorful and striking large mounded mass of diverging, iridescent richly golden, subtle peacock-blue and magenta Chalcopyrite botryoids. This sculptural and impressive piece is from recent finds at the Tongshankou Mine, a porphyry/skarn-type Cu-Mo deposit. The striking, elongated, bulbous, tapered botryoids reach 3.0 cm. Botryoidal chalcopyrite of this style is known as "blister copper" from the historic, classic copper mines of Cornwall, England. Scattered areas of broken botryoids are certainly only a modest detraction. 900 grams or 2.0 pounds mass. Exotic, colorful and attractive chalcopyrite from anywhere, be it China or England. Another bonus for the locale. Valued $2500.
