Iridescent, golden chalcopyrite stalactites and botryoids accented with peacock-blue and magenta areas dramatically and richly cover the upper portion of this impressive and sculptural large specimen from recent finds at the Tongshankou Mine, a porphyry/skarn-type Cu-Mo deposit. The stalactites reach 2.2 cm on this striking piece. Botryoidal chalcopyrite of this style is known as "blister copper" from the historic, classic copper mines of Cornwall, England. A few broken botryoids in the rich coverage are certainly a modest detraction. Unusual and attractive chalcopyrite from anywhere, be it China or England. Another bonus for the locale.
