Iridescent Chalcopyrite

Item Description

A hard to find specimen from this limited discovery in the Hubei Province of China featuring a stunning multi-colored iridescent coverage of "peacock" Chalcopyrite showing strong golden, aqua and magenta hues, with minor associated Calcite on matrix. The Chalcopyrite coating is actually composed of hundreds of small (1± mm), tightly intergrown crystals, and you can clearly see defined crystal faces under magnification. This is actually a rare style from this locality, and was found in 2017. The piece is crystallized on all sides and really displays nicely on its own, as it sits quite well without a base, but we have also included an engraved acrylic base (though with a simple flat surface, not custom formed to the shape of the specimen) to enhance the displayability.
