Item Description

Iranite is a rare lead-copper-chromate and this rich specimen is from the Type Locality area in Iran. Lustrous, rust-red, prismatic microcrystals are festooned both sides of the sculptural, thin matrx. The boxwork matrix on the front right is particulary rich in crystals and is very noteworthy. For the species, this is an EXTREMELY RICH specimen. Discovered in 1963, this piece probably dates to the 1960s or 70s. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
