Item Description

A RARE, rich and excellent old-time combination piece from this less well-known New Mexico district. Tiny, translucent, apple-green iodargyrite crystals are peppered on matrix and are starkly contrasted by the sprinkling of textbook, hexagonal, orange vanadinite barrels to 3 mm. The heyday of this silver mining area was 1881-1893, with intermittent mining into the 1950s (for manganese). Rich silver ore, probably from the primary mining era or soon thereafter. Ex Phil Scalisi Collection. A MUST for the locality or species collector.
