Item Description

Nikolaevskiy Mine "invisible" fluorite crystals are one the signature desirable species from the renowned mines at Dal'negorsk. This is a superlative and aesthetic large mounded two-sided combination rib from the mid-1990s finds. The clarity of the these cubes is remarkable! Limpid, incredibly glassy, colorless cubes, to 1.3 cm, are dramatically clustered atop the mounded matrix covered with a myriad of variably-sized frosted and oxide-tinted quartz points. A jauntily set 1.7 cm cluster of calcite rhombs on one side and scattered clusters of lustrous, brassy, hexagonal pyrrhotite plates are classic associations to this outstanding piece. Some of the fluorite cubes on the crest have overgrown small quartz points, which penetrate through and out of the crystals and a few cubes also have hard-to-see phantoms, adding much pizzazz. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, it's very hard to see, that one of the fluorites at the top has a gently bruised edge. The fluorites fluoresce purple and the calcite pink. As the very fine two-volume 2016 set of Moore's Compendium of Mineral Discoveries succinctly states these: "have put Dal'negorsk in the very first rank of world fluorite localities: simply, there is nothing quite like these lustrous, eerily "invisible" crystals anywhere else ---." Superlative combination material from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this at $1200 more than 6 years ago. Fairly valued today at $2250-2500. Pieces of this combination quality only come out from recycled advanced collections today.
