Item Description

This is a fine Inesite from the well-known Wessels mine. This miniature is composed of deep red Inesite crystals, with the dominant morphology being floral-like sprays of radial crystals. The surficial luster is matte, but everywhere the clusters are exposed the gorgeous vitreous luster really shows itself. The Inesite crystals average about 6-7 mm long. What really adds to this piece is that the Inesite overlays a rich, botryoidal crust of light Orlymanite, for which Wessels is the Type Locality. You can see the radial growth of the Orlymanite, and there are even a few small stalactites of Orlymanite draped with Inesite. Classic old material from the 1980s, valued $1000
