Item Description

Fan-shaped clusters of vitreous red-orange inesite crystals richly and attractively cover the sculptural thin crust on this showy and colorful small cabinet from the Kalahari manganese field. Inesite is a rare complex hydrated Ca-Mg-Fe-silicate deposited as a late stage hydrothermal mineral in manganese deposits. The piece is classic material from the 1990s. An excellent and rich example from the R.D. Mushlitz Collection.
