Item Description
This is one of the most intense red Inesites I have seen from this mine since they first appeared on the market in the 1990s. The color shows none of the pale pink hue that is commonly associated with this material, and in fact has more of an orange overtone. This piece hosts a gorgeous, 2.0 cm, very well-formed, COMPLETE, radiating aggregate of strong red color bladed Inesite crystals perched atop of a matrix comprising Apophyllite, Quartz and Pyrite and micro crystals of dark brown Hubeite, for which this mine is the type locality. The color just glows when the Inesite is backlit. The piece could be trimmed down into a world-class miniature, but I wanted to leave it untrimmed in case somebody would have preferred to have a cabinet specimen. Attractive matrix specimens of Inesite from Fengjiashan are rare, and to find a piece with this color is unheard of. Valued at $1200.
