Item Description
From the Pirineus claim in Minas Gerais, this is a choice, miniature combination. The centerpiece is a 3.1 cm Indicolite Tourmaline, with a fine, uniform blue color. The crystal is gemmy to translucent, and the striated prism faces have a micro-overgrowth that gives the surface a nice texture. The matrix of ledpidolite hosts the tourmaline and the rare association of the phosphate species collinsite and eosphorite together on the tourmaline, which is why it was so special to one who would know :. Luis Menezes specimen and label. From the large worldwide collection of historical minerals, of George Elling of New Jersey.
