Indicolite Tourmaline with a yellow ''cap''

Tourmalines are beloved for the fact that they are not only gemmy and colorful, but they are one of the few minerals found in multi-color crystals. You can find Tourmalines from thousands of places on Earth, but the prestigious Pederneira Mine has produced specimens that are certainly in the highest of echelons. This magnificent locality has been producing some of the most iconic and highly displayable Tourmaline specimens in the world for decades. It is celebrated for the superior quality and size of crystals that are found in a rainbow of colors. This beautiful small cabinet sized piece is a classic gemmy Indicolite Tourmaline from circa 2010 finds. The lustrous, striated, steel-blue prismatic trigonal crystal shows good internal gemminess and is complete all around. If you look closely, the basal termination has a thin, yellow "cap", which is not unheard of, but certainly rare for Tourmaline. The piece has a few clean repairs, which is certainly acceptable in the context of these specimens, as nearly all of the bigger crystals from this mine have been repaired. VERY DIFFICULT to photograph correctly with the gemminess, luster and striations. Specimen weight is 8.3 grams. A fine, classic gem Pederneira Indicolite.
