Item Description

The world-famous Pederneira Mine is celebrated for the superior quality and size of the various Tourmaline crystals it has produced, in a rainbow of colors. This crystal is a classic gemmy Indicolite Tourmaline from circa 2010 finds. The lustrous, striated, steel-blue prismatic trigonal crystal are is fairly gemmy, and when backlit you can see it has a purple "cap", which is one of the rarest colors to find in Tourmaline. The lower back edge of the crystal is slightly tapered, but it's not broken as I can see small faces where it has at least partially re-crystallized ("re-healed"). There is one clean repair on the piece, which is certainly acceptable in the context of these crystals, Keep in mind that a large percentage of Tourmalines from Pederneira are repaired, so this is common. VERY DIFFICULT to photograph correctly with the gemminess, glassiness, luster and striations. Better in person! Specimen weight is 13.3 grams. A fine, classic gem Pederneira Indicolite.
