Item Description
The world-famous Pederneira Mine has been producing some of the most iconic Tourmaline specimens in the world for decades. It is celebrated for the superior quality and size of crystals that are found in a rainbow of colors. This beautiful large cabinet sized piece is a classic gemmy Indicolite tourmaline from circa 2010 finds. The highly lustrous, striated, steel-blue prismatic trigonal crystal is VERY GEMMY (and even WATER CLEAR in areas) and is complete all around. The piece is a doubly-terminated "floater" as it features a basal termination on one end, and the other end is fully crystallized ("re-healed"). There are a few clean repairs on the crystal, which is certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species, and nearly all of the big crystals from this mine have at least one repair. VERY DIFFICULT to photograph correctly with the gemminess, glassiness, high lustre and striations. MUCH better in person! Specimen weight is 51.80 grams. An excellent, big, classic gem Pederneira Indicolite. Priced at $8,500 in the inventory.
