Item Description
Indicolite tourmalines of this size and quality are extremely rare from the famous Tourmaline King Mine (older and much less worked than the Queen Mine, nearby). This robust crystal has a gorgeous, gemmy, 5 mm, blue zone, just below the 1 mm violet termination. The body of the striking, cloverleaf-shaped crystal is opaque, super dark blue. The partial robing by cleavelandite blades and pink lepidolite really adds character to this aesthetic specimen. The lustrous termination is opaque and has nifty gemmy, pink edges. Complete all-around, the tourmaline is in great shape, with just a bit of termination edge wear. Rare and classic King Mine material. Self-collected by noted San Diego miner Roland Reed in the 1980s, and later also ex Irv Brown Collection. Valued at $1800.
