Item Description

Gem Tourmalines are found in many localities in the world, but one of the greatest mines in the modern era of collecting is the prodigious Pederneira Mine in Brazil. This storied locality has been producing some of the most iconic Tourmaline specimens in existence for decades. These Tourmalines are celebrated for the superior quality and size of crystals that are found in a rainbow of colors. This is a wonderful gemmy Indicolite Tourmaline from circa 2010 finds. The highly lustrous, striated, steel-blue prismatic trigonal crystal is gemmy when backlit. It's a complete doubly-terminated prisms, and a complete "floater". I looked closely, and I can't see any major damage, but it does have two clean repairs, which is par for the course with these crystals, as many of them were broken in the pocket, and had to be reassembled. When you backlight the piece you can see that one end of the crystal has a thin purple "cap", while the other end shows a light yellow color, which are of the rarest colors to find in Tourmaline. Specimen weight is 22.7 grams.
