Item Description
Barra de Salinas is famous for its classic, multicolored tourmalines, most notably the sceptres with red core and green tops. Equally coveted, and even more rare, are its blue Tourmalines known as Indicolites. This slender pencil is a lovely blue enhanced by its gemmy to translucent interior. The surfaces are striated, and they range from lustrous almost frosted with a sharp, almost satiny, texture caused by microgrowths on the surface. The termination is excellent, as is the color. Indicolites were mined primarily in the 60's-70's, and their allure has continued to grow over the years. From the collection of East Coast collector, George Elling, specializing in historic minerals of the East Coast and minerals from the development of old European mineralogy.
