Item Description
For many years, Tourmaline has been one of the most popular colored stones on the market. Collectors, dealers and jewelers love the fact that Tourmalines are found in wide array of colors, in larger sized stones from various world localities. This particular gem is from the famed Pederneira Mine in Brazil, which for many years has produced outstanding crystallized specimens of Tourmaline, but faceted stones are not nearly as common in my experience. This stone is a wonderful "Concave Emerald" cut gem with very slight inclusions, and a smoky/silvery blue color, but what makes it really special is the fact that it has a "Fantasy" cut. This style of cutting is where the underside/pavilion/culet area of the gem has actually been carved to create beautiful geometric patterns, freeform designs or unique shapes that are seldom seen in any colored stones on the market today. A really attractive stone for any fan of Tourmalines. It would make a great center stone for a pendant, or as an addition to your gem collection. The minor inclusions in the stone are forgivable for Tourmalines, because they are classified as "Type-3" gemstones, which means that inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors.
