Indicolite Tourmaline

If you were to rank the thousands of localities around the world where Tourmaline has been reported, most people would certainly place the prestigious Pederneira Mine in the top tier. This impressive locality has been producing some of the most impressive, iconic, highly displayable and colorful Tourmaline specimens in the world for decades. Here we have an attractive gemmy Indicolite Tourmaline from circa 2010 finds. The lustrous, striated, silvery-blue prismatic crystal shows good internal gemminess and is complete all around. If you look closely, you'll see there is a very thin PURPLE color on the basal termination, a rare color for Tourmaline. There are actually a couple tiny Indicolites sitting on top of the main crystal for a nice touch. The piece is actually NOT REPAIRED, which in the context of these specimens is significant, as many crystals from this mine have been repaired. VERY DIFFICULT to photograph correctly with the gemminess, luster and striations. Specimen weight is 9.48 grams. A fine, classic gem Pederneira Indicolite.
