Item Description
Classic color-zoned purple Elmwood Mine fluorite cubes with these interesting CORES are VERY RARE, desirable and are seldom on the market. This impressive large multi-sided example from the Sandy Ludlum Collection features aesthetically intergrown cubes, to 4.0 cm, with typical darker edge phantoms and striking dense stepped-growth faces with shimmering waxy luster. The quality is very high! The cubes rest on lustrous, partially translucent classic rubyjack sphalerite crystals. This exceptional and aesthetic large 360-degree specimen is nearly pristine with only a few gently bruised corners and edges, which is certainly only a modest detraction. If perfect, I'd ask and get more in the $5000-7500 range for one this striking in geometry and arrangement. With a little very minor damage, only seen up close, it will be a relative bargain. This is from the collection of retired Midwest dealer Sandy Ludlum, my own mentor as a child. The piece is stunning in a case!
