Item Description
An exceptional, old-time, large, sharp and pristine, tabular, doubly terminated rhodonite crystal with rounded edges is aesthetically attached to a contrasting shard of calcite matrix on this outstanding specimen from the famous Franklin Mine. Collected circa 1900, the lustrous, mottled rose-red crystal has vivid, beautiful rose-pink translucence under bright light in some areas. Most prism faces are frosted. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5692 and acquired from the American Musuem in the late 1960s. Bright red calcite fluorescence. This is a classic and very fine sharp rhodonite combination from this noted locale. Single rhodonites with this crystal quality and isolation are VERY RARE. Valued at $1000-1500
