This is a rarely seen MATRIX specimen of Imperial Topaz from the famous locality at Ouro Preto. The vast majority of the crystals from this locality are loose singles, and less than 1% of them are found on matrix. This piece hosts a notably lustrous, very gemmy, sharp, well-formed, elongated prismatic crystal measuring 3.2 cm long sitting beautifully on oxidized matrix. The combination of the fine quality of the Topaz and the rare matrix make this a highly desirable specimen from the premier locality for Imperial Topaz in the world.
