Item Description

Imperial topaz is of course well known and famous from this locality in Brazil, a group of iron and topaz mines. This specimen, however, is something surprising! A 3.0 cm, beautiful, gemmy, terminated, golden Imperial Topaz crystal is dramatically set on the side of an impressive, large, sharp, lustrous, translucent, terminated quartz crystal. A 1.5 cm section of another topaz crystal near the base is an accent to complement. Imperial Topaz and Quartz combinations of ANY size and quality are RARE from famed Ouro Preto and this striking piece is from a new find during Covid era! Imperial Topaz from Ouro Preto is a holy grail iconic species, that many collectors desire to obtain. See the 1989 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 20, No. 3.
