Imperial Topaz (classic material) (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

An attractive, fine quality, gemmy single crystal of classic orange Imperial Topaz with a typical steep termination. It's a good sized crystal for the material, and the color is well saturated to boot. It is orange for sure, and by no means "brownish". All the faces are lustrous without any kind of coating. I can't find any major damage, but one edge is rough where it was contacted. My favorite aspect about these crystals is that when they reach this size, they show a fantastic fiery reddish hue when viewed down the "c" axis (hard to photograph, but it looks better in person). It's a very good large miniature / small cabinet from this world famous locality that has produced some of the most incredible color Topaz crystals in the world. Weigh is 32.09 grams. This one is priced at $4,000 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
