This is a rather large, robust, impressive topaz of the style called Imperial Topaz in the gem trade, and they come from only one district of Brazil. Specimens of this size, with a perfect termination and no damage, are few and far between! The piece could be more gemmy, I admit, but it has a good translucence and the classic color. It is complete all around. This is well worth $2500-4500 range, and you cannot find such things at shows reliably. The deposits are mostly producing rough for the gem trade, in any case.
