Item Description
Imperial topaz from Ouro Preto, Brazil is a "Holy Grail" topaz varietal, most collectors look for. This classic, gorgeous, gemmy and lustrous, complete all-around, striated crystal has beautiful, light orange color and excellent luster and fire. The internal crazing adds character. A highly representative and unusual large crystal from the renowned locale. Very nearly pristine, the trivial termination bruising is barely noticeable to this stunning and fat crystal. At first glance, one side edge looks damaged, but is actually unusually etched (so it is rough, but not by damage, per se). Three faces have an interesting partial glaze, perhaps from a similar solution process in the pocket. 45 grams. We just found this again, after our office move, and I had actually bought it many years ago in a large deal. I cannot replace them today for prices they go for here at auction, not with this color saturation anyhow. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
