Item Description
Here we have a wonderful classic, crystal of golden Imperial Topaz from the classic locality at Ouro Preto in Brazil. The piece has a classic pyramidal termination with fine, sharp, lustrous faces and good internal gemminess. There is a small nick where the termination meets the prism, but the piece is still in very good shape overall. It's important to note that the color is a golden hue to be sure, and by no means "brownish". All the faces are fairly lustrous without any kind of coating. It's a good overall thumbnail from this world famous locality that has produced some of the most incredible color Topaz crystals in the world. Specimen weight is 4.42 grams. From the collection of the long time, beloved, well-known French field collector, Paul Zerfass (Collection #305). Zerfass built this worldwide collection over nearly 50 years, many of which were personally collected. A biography featuring specimens from his collection (along with his face on the cover) is in the May - June 2017 issue of French mineral magazine, Le Règne Minéral. We have a .pdf copy of the article for anybody interested in reading it (though it's mostly in French). Just drop us a line and know that you'd like to have a copy.
