Item Description
"Imperial" topaz from Ouro Preto, Brazil is a "Holy Grail" topaz varietal, most collectors look for. This CLASSIC, GORGEOUS, gemmy and lustrous, complete all-around, striated crystal has beautiful, golden-orange color and excellent luster and fire. But, unusually, its got a hint of red to it, as well - the color is MORE intense than almost any other imperial I can think of, not the usual shades of orange hues, with a distinct red or umber tone to it. The sharp pyramidal termination is particularly gemmy. A LARGE, VERY HIGHLY REPRESENTATIVE crystal from the renowned locale. Specimens of this quality and size are generally offered in the Gallery, but we wanted to give our auction customers an opportunity to obtain a fairly large "Imperial" with EXCELLENT color and gemminess. Very nearly pristine, the super-trivial termination wear is certainly not a detraction to this stunning crystal. A fine spiker for the auction. 37 grams. Valued at $2000-2250. MUCH, MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!
