Exceptional small cabinet polished Pallasite meteorite slice from the well-known Imilac, Chile fall. Pallasites are rare Stoney-iron meteorites with striking large olivine crystals of gemmy peridot quality in an iron-nickel matrix (Wikipedia). The splendent metallic polished matrix is a dramatic contrast to the gemminess of the olive-green peridot crystals and makes them among THE most desirable of meteorite types. Backlighting REALLY highlights the gemmy peridot crystals! The Imilac fall, known since 1822, is one of the notable pallasite finds and there are only 61 known to date. The two sides look distinctively different adding even more allure to this outstanding rich and colorful slab. Mass is 26 grams.
