Item Description
Here is a attractive Quartz and Ilvaite combo specimen from the Huanggang Mine No. 1 from finds there in around 2010, some of the earlier material in combination with quartz compared to more modern big chunky crystals that are often singles and clusters with no quartz. The piece consists of a prominent trio of Quartz crystals in tight parallel growth to 7.2 cm on the left side with a cluster of several, striated, jet-black, singly terminated to doubly terminated Ilvaite crystals from 1 to 3.4 cm in length in random orientation on the right side of the piece intergrown with numerous, translucent Quartz crystals to just over 1 cm. The larger Quartz crystals are lustrous with complex growth features on their prism faces producing a distinct scintillating effect and they exhibit markedly lustrous and transparent to translucent pyramidal terminations. The smaller, almost needle-like Quartz crystals have a satin luster and many are doubly terminated. This small cabinet piece has great balance and aesthetics.
