Item Description

The famed Hanggang complex in Inner Mongolia is one of the great contemporary Chinese localities, producing iconic mineral specimens for many years now. Some of the finest examples of Ilvaite ever seen have come from this mine. Here we have a fantastic small cabinet display specimen featuring a large, rather lustrous, very sharp, well-formed, jet-black Ilvaite crystal group, free of matrix. All of the multi-"chisel"-shaped terminations are in superb shape, and they have a wonderful "slick" vitreous luster. The piece also sits beautifully on its own without the aid of a base or clay. A super contemporary classic specimen and one of the signature species from this prolific mine. Price at $2,000 in our inventory.
