Item Description
A dramatically sculptural, rare and highly unusual-looking large combination from the famous mines at Dal'negorsk. A classic, 3.5 cm, very sharp, doubly terminated, lustrous, metallic-black, compound ilvaite crystal with striking skeletal faces is jauntily set on side of a striking opposing cluster of flattened calcite crystals. The lustrous, translucent tan calcites are composed of melted-look rhombs. The imposing large calcite looks like a fish with two dorsal fins. There are a few small quartz and ilvaite crystals attached to the bottom of the piece, which displays well without aid. This fantastically artistic and probably unique looking 360-degree combination is essentially pristine. The calcite must be a cave formation. Pink calcite fluoresence. Ex Dr. Ed David Collection. Ed was Science Advisor to President Nixon and assembled several world-class collections.
