Item Description
Ilvaite is a RARE accessory from the Potosi Mine at Santa Eulalia, famous for rhodochrosite, mimetite, hemimorphite, calcite and other species. This is a large, RARE and rich two-sided combination. Splendent, sharp, striated, jet-black ilvaite prisms, to 1.3 cm, dramatically fill the sculptural vug in the front. A RARE 1.0 cm accessory cluster of tiny glassy, greenish-gray fluorescent fluorite crystals is on the left, with two smaller clusters noted. The back of the sculptural matrix hosts more ilvaites and possibile clusters of tiny, rare, yellowish-tan, glassy natanite crystals, a RARE Fe-Sn hydroxide. Acquired from respected Mexico specialist Peter Megaw and valued by him at $500. RARE and rich large combination material. A must for the species or locality collector.
