The famous mines at Dal'negorsk have produced some of the world's finest ilvaites and this is a rich and showy two-sided example from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. Lustrous, sharply terminated, jet-black prisms jut upward in striking sprays. The crystals reach about 3.0 cm. The contacted and bruised crystals on the periphery certainly have only minimal impact to the overall excellent and rich quality of this piece. Valued by Herb at $450, over five years ago.
