Ilvaite is not found in many good examples from the U.S., but the pieces from South Mountain are not only fine quality, but are certainly the best from this country. This piece is an excellent, sharp, lustrous, doubly-terminated, jet black, prismatic, very well-formed crystal with minor associated Quartz. Piece like this that are crystallized all the way around, and complete on both ends are very rare from this locality. If you collect miniatures, minerals from the U.S. or simply single crystals, don't miss out on this attractive and very worthwhile piece from this classic locality in Idaho.
