Ilmenite and Smoky Quartz

Superb euhedral ilmenite crystal with Smoky Quartz. ilmenite crystals from this region do not often have well-defined crystal faces, but this single crystal has excellent faces and lustrous striations on the reverse side. Very typically, this has an outer orange-tan coating of alterations (we are not sure what). Both the Smoky and the ilmenite are contacted on the base, though it displays well otherwise. An excellent specimen for this combination. Rare find, rare material for Erongo.
