Item Description

Idrialite (named for the Idria Mine in Slovenia, the type locality) is a VERY RARE mineral of organic origin (hydrocarbon) that is only found in just over a dozen localities worldwide. The species is also known as Curtisite, which was described from the Skaggs Springs Mine. It has been found in very few localities worldwide. Specimens rarely appear on the market. This is about as good as they get - the mineral does not form eye-visible crystals, but you have a good amount of golden-yellow Idrialite covering the underlying matrix. According to the label, this specimen was collected in 1933! This piece comes with a classic label from noted rare mineral expert, Josef Vajdak of Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
