Item Description
A classic, lightly frosted, rhomb of optical-grade, "Iceland spar" calcite from the famous Type Locality. The deposit has been known since 1669 and was mined commercially from 1855 to 1925. Some faces are cleaved but that it has any faces at all, is a new one on me, for this locality. Ex Fioravanti Collection and obtained from the Palumbo Collection in 1958. Probably old-time material.
