Item Description

While Hydroxylherderite is not unheard of from the Golconda Mine, they are rarely found with any associated species. This small cabinet sized specimen features several blocky, chalky white crystals of Hydroxylherderite measuring up to 1.2 cm which are sitting at the base of a 4.4 cm long, sharp, lustrous, GEM quality, slightly smoky colored Quartz crystal. A handful of thin, prismatic very dark green colored Tourmaline crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm long can be see scattered about the base of the piece AND included inside the Quartz crystal! The termination of the Quartz has a tiny secondary overgrowth of another little "jewel"-like Quartz, and is not broken or incomplete. A really interesting and unique association specimen from this famous old mine in Brazil dating back about 50 years to the early 1970s. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6437). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
