Hydroxylherderite (rare green color) on Microcline

Item Description

A showy robust thumbnail specimen from the famous Yuno High Mines in the Shigar Valley of Pakistan featuring a very sharp, well-formed, lustrous gemmy crystal of Hydroxylherderite measuring 1.0 cm, smartly perched atop white blocky Microcline matrix. The Hydroxylherderite shows a distinct green hue, which is rare for the species. I can't recall seeing better green examples from anywhere outside of Pakistan. No damage on the front/display side. These are quite rare on the market today, they were mined over a decade ago, and if you collect pegmatite minerals, phosphates, or just attractive example of lesser-seen species, this is a great one to pick up.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#160 AP), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel.
