Item Description

An attractive specimen of this elusive material from the Shigar Valley in Pakistan (possibly the Mungo or Yuno High Mines) featuring a pair of soft silvery-green colored, sharp, well-formed, translucent elongated crystals of Hydroxylherderite measuring up to 2.1 cm long, sitting on bladed Albite matrix with minor associated Quartz. Some black prismatic crystals of Schorl can be seen on the underside of the specimen. No damage I can find, and rather showy. Green is a fairly rare color for Hydroxylherderite, and the best specimens from Pakistan are the finest green examples of the species ever found.
Ex Gerry Morvell collection.
