Item Description

A striking and rich large specimen of gemmy and lustrous, light lavender hydroxylherderite crystals with parallel-growth, green muscovite from THE classic locality for such specimens. This find, dating to October of 1976, is recounted in interesting detail in the excellent book by Dr. Peter Bancroft "Gem and Crystal Treasures" on pages 207-208. These remain, years later, the best ever found of purple hydroxylherderite. The large isolated crystal is 1.5 cm. The matrix is a large, euhedral, orangish-tan, K feldspar crystal. VERY fine, rich and seldom available material from the Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection, which he acquired in 1985. Valued at $1750-2000.
